Nambu Tekki (南部鉄器) (literally, Southern cast ironware) has c.900 years history in Japan. It is a traditional handmade craft in Iwate Prefecture. Nambu Tekki was appointed as "Dento Teki Kogei Hin" (伝統的工芸品) (Traditional Craft) of Japan by the Japanese government (METI) in 1975.

Nambu Tekki used to be black color only as the original color of cast iron. However, colorful Nambu Tekki became very popular during the last decades. An idea of colorful Nambu Tekki came from Paris and such colorful ones became very popular there first and then imported back to Japan where also colorful Nambu Tekki got great attentions. It is intriguing to imagine why in Paris the idea of colorful Nambu Tekki came up. But somehow it is understandable that because a way of using colors are truly artistic in Paris even for sweets like a macaron.

Colorful Nambu Tekki of Roji Associates ("Roji") is already a kind of masterpiece of "arts" as it was exhibited at MoMA (The Museum of Modern Arts in NY) since the early 2000. Roji's colorful Nambu Tekki has grasped hearts of people with this beautiful and magnificent shape of cast iron pot while showing marvelous colors to exhibit its outstanding presence.

We believe that it would be entertaining and cosy presentation to have colorful macarons and other sweets with Le Martin Pecheur etc. as a dessert drink at a dessert time of a lovely dinner by this Roji's Nambu Tekki (cold being in refrigerator) which is as colorful as macarons.
